The bio-based economy requires a multidisciplinary workforce comfortable with chemistry, biology and engineering and with the new skills needed to support new technologies.  BioVale works to support development of a  pool of suitably skilled staff as a critical component of the regional bioeconomy. 

BioVale one-day workshops

BioVale held a series of one-day workshops throughout the first half of 2015 to help regional businesses gain a better awareness of the emerging bioeconomy and understand the associated business benefits. The courses were being developed in partnership with the University of York and funded by the European Social Fund. They were attended by a total of 71 individuals from 53 companies.

BioVale skills report

New education and training is needed to support bioeconomy entrepreneurs. A needs analysis report is being developed in collaboration with industry and local education and training providers and is due to be published later this year.

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is funded by the European Social Fund, co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency. The Grimsby Institute is the Accountable Body for the SSW LRF Programme.
