BioVale is an innovation cluster that will support development of the region’s bio-based economy. A successful BioVale will catalyse environmentally and socially sustainable growth and attract inward investment to the area. The BioVale concept is currently being developed in collaboration with industry by the Biorenewables Development Centre, the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products, and the Green Chemistry Centre at the University of York, and the Food and Environment Research Agency working with the City of York Council, Science City York and Askham Bryan College.
The bioeconomy encompasses the production of renewable biological resources and their conversion into food, feed, bioenergy and other products.

University of York secures major investment to accelerate bio-based innovations in Yorkshire
The University of York has secured over £2M of Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funding to help grow the UK’s bioeconomy. The money will be used to support BioVale, as well as a technical programme of academic and business engagement to help companies develop novel bio-based processes and products. Read more here
