BioVale works to create an innovative environment for the regional bioeconomy, providing practical assistance that enables creative interactions and collaborations between bio-based industry and academics.
Access to expertise
BioVale helps regional businesses access the latest bioeconomy research, expertise and facilities. This includes world-class research at the University of York and Fera and technical expertise and scale-up facilities at the Biorenewables Development Centre (BDC), the Green Chemistry Industrial Engagement Facility and the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products. We have helped secure grants to support a programme of technology transfer for regional SMEs at the BDC.
Innovation events and networking
We facilitate networking for this sector through our regular programme of events and our contacts directory for BioVale members (coming soon). Our Special Interest Groups help to bring industry and academia together to discuss and progress specific topic areas.
We are working with the University of York to develop a scheme which helps early career researchers to establish bio-based businesses. Our aim is to help de-risk business creation through a programme of support for student entrepreneurs, such as; competitive bursaries, specialised training, reduced rents and access to facilities.
